Warning! This post contains major spoilers for the My Hero Academia manga up to Chapter 318! The anime is currently up to Chapter 270 (as of writing this post; it's a little past there at the time of posting this), so if you are an anime-only fan trying to avoid spoilers, this post isn't for you just yet.

Izuku Midoriya

Approx. 2.5 Hours
I've spent so long just staring at this drawing; I love it so much. This drawing took a lot of iteration. I actually started by doing some thumbnails on a piece of paper and then taking a picture of the thumbnail I liked the best and putting it into FireAlpaca. I used a really dark red for the line art and then a kind of mauve-pink for the shadows and an orange-y color for the highlights. The background was taken from Google and edited slightly so it would work with what I had in mind.
Gosh dang if the Rouge Deku Arc hasn't been destroying me emotionally. I've been reading the manga as the English volumes have been coming out, so the most recent chapter I've read is Chapter 318. I spent the entirety of Volume 32 just SCREAMING at the page. I know why he's made the choices he's made, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. But goodness gracious the angst. The angst. Deku's rogue outfit is really fun to draw though. I did actually go through the entire volume after I read it to count how many times Deku smiled. Three. There are a total of three panels of Deku smiling, and they are all flashbacks. This entire arc has made me think of the song Devil Town by Cavetown, hence the name that I named this piece.
I think the part that wrecked me the most was after Deku almost gets blown up and he leaves All Might behind. That like actually made me cry, not going to lie. I also find the Deku to Stain parallels really interesting. I actually showed one of my anime-only friends the panel where they show Deku in his full blackwhip rogue form, and they thought that he was Stain.
I did find it kind of funny, though, when I realized that Lady Nagant had Overhaul with her. I'm not the... greatest at manga comprehension. It took me a second to realize that she even had someone with her, and once I realized who it was, my exact reaction was "ha ha, he don't got no arms." Speaking of which, side tangent for my lack of manga comprehension skills, it took me like two full read-throughs of the War Arc to realize that Aizawa lost an entire leg and Mirko lost an entire arm. Didn't notice either of those my first read through.
I'll make another post soon (hopefully) talking about my thoughts so far on season 6 because GOSH DANG. Season 6 Episode 3 hurt me. You'll have to bear with some The Owl House stuff and some new Sisters content before I will actually end up talking about it, though. If you have any questions about my digital art process, or have any of your own thoughts about My Hero Academia, feel free to leave them in the comments on this post!
Stay awesome! <3
